Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Download speeds - Will Pro version (turbo) really help? I've got five or six computers all running limewire, and I noticed that the download\upload speeds vary quite a bit from computer to computer. One of them is incredibly fast, oddly, that is one my slower computers, tried different things; network cards, different ip's, different versions, (haven't tried pro version yet myself because a friend had pro version, hooked his tower into my network and didn't seem any faster than mine.) guess could try Pro and comment on it. One thing that seems to work is going to the task manager\view\update speed\selecting high (refresh rate) seems to increase speed by 20% to 25% on all computers. Trying to understand it better! Play and Learn I guess! If I find how to improve it I'll reply. I see alot of comments on connection problems. Once in awhile I need to go to (upper left tab) click file\connect on one computer. Here's another question! Where do I make replies, comments, or state an idea? **Running 10 meg broadband cable service, with modem to router (using only a single port of router) to 14 port concentrator to computers (2000 pro on one, XP on the rest)** (This is fastest means acheived thus far) Also someone needs to make a easier link to a new thread, found myself seaching for it! Should be easier than it is, (for us new people). |

Feature requests section, however LW devs rarely visit there now. If they visit forums, it's usually their beta forums. Pro has the ability to download from 10 hosts her file as compared to Basic's 8 which can arguably result in faster downloads sometimes. Pro also has some better abilities for searching the rarer files due to its extra 2 ultrapeers it connects to (5 instead of 3 UP's.) But other than that, Pro is definitely not dramatically better. The improvements are more subtle. Here's an example of my LW Pro operating http://www.gnutellaforums.com/limewi...tml#post330034 as you see I was lucky enough to find some fast hosts. Definitely doesn't happen every day though, perhaps because I tend to go for the harder to find files. Answers to commonly asked questions are often Stickied in bold red at top of each forum section. Tips may also be in stickies. Site Feedback section is really for comments or problems with this site & forums. |

looool??? LimeWire is limited to 10 Hosts per file? My Shareaza is right now downloading a Shareaza installer (just for the fun of trying it out) from something around 50 Hosts... [most of them Gnutella2, 1 eDonkey one and 1 Gnutella] It *might* be that the download speeds on Shareaza are sometimes better than those on LW... even better than those on LW Pro... EDIT: Here is a printscreen I took 13 secs after I started the download (the number of transfers was still increasing): mfg Old

Hey??? I got that downloads out of G2! If you use Shareaza, usually, you get around 90% of your transfers out of G2, because G2 is more efficient in finding sources for a file... That's why. Have a look at the number of sources for the file found in these 13 secs and tell me whether this is possible on G1. Shareaza is not 'taking the G1 abandwidth away'. In fact, on my own computer, I made statistics about this (~one year ago) and I noticed I was uploading more than 3 times more data to G1 than I was downloading from this network. On the eDonkey network, it's even worse, because of their queue length. (Takes long to get downstream from them and you give them quite much bandwidth by default...) Also, around 80% of the Shareaza users are only connected to G2 (which is the default set by the installer), so they will never get any downloads from G1 at all... [You know, I really hate these prejudices against multi-network clients.] EDIT: What matters at the end is not that I am able to download file xy with 6MB of size within 20 seconds, but wat matters is the size of file xy. What matters at the end is the amount of transfered data, not the transfer speed. Whether I am getting it from one network or an other does not matter either. (And I never got one file 100% from G1, I can affirm you this.) Shareaza has by default 4 upload queues (2 for incomplete files and 2 for libary files). 2 of them are for eDonkey (~1/3 of your upload bandwidth by default) and the 2 others are for Gnutella (G1 and G2). Which means we reserve around 2/3 of our upload bandwidth for other networks (including ~1/3 of the total bandwidth for G1), whereas we get more than 90% of our transfered data from G2, because it can find sources faster... and it can find all existing sources on the network. So plz do your math now and tell me if we are taking G1 bandwidth away...! thx.
