Exclamation XoloX put “800 Meg” of junk on my HD.

I found something interesting that Xolox left on my Hard Drive. I was editing my cookies (C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files) when I viewed “Properties” for the “Temporary Internet Files” folder and saw that the file size was over “800 Meg”. I right clicked and hit “Explore” and I found a Xolox “Temp” folder with 800+ Meg of “JOB-Segments” in it. I was able to run some of the XLX files and found they where segments from movies that I download several months ago. I have never used anything but the temp folder in “C:\Program Files\XOLOX” for my Xolox partial downloads. I don’t know how or why these “JOB-Segment.xlx” files ended up in my “Temporary Internet Files” folder, but 800 Meg is a lot of space to waste. Any one that has used Xolox should go to “C:\WINDOWS” and check the file size of their “Temporary Internet Files” folder to make sure that its not hiding a load of partial downloads from Xolox. Running a file/folder search did NOT reveal these “JOB-Segments”. Due to the special nature of the “Temporary Internet Files” folder, opening the folder in the normal way hid everything from me but cookies and other website junk, I had to use the explore feature in order to see everything in this file.

Who cares about the bugs in the old version! Wait for the new one and see if this happens there too... or better send Pasman a mail, so he can fix it in the new version!

The point is that those old XLX files have been hidden on my Hard Drive for 4 or 5 months. And because I don’t know how they ended up in that location, I don’t know how many people that have used this client in the past, even for a little while, may have nearly a GB or more of cloaked files on their HD. Uninstalling Xolox won’t get rid of these hidden files if you have them. You can only see them to remove them, if you right click on the “Temporary Internet Files” folder and select “Explore”. For all I know this could be an isolated incident. I don’t think I should ask Pasman to fix it, if I can’t find the reason it happened, or can’t find anyone else that has found the same problem. It is likely this is a result of one of the patched versions of Xolox, or maybe the “File Stream Error” problem.

Sorry to say this but those XoloX programmers were just starting to program P2P and this was a quick and easy put together program. The easy way to do multi segment downloads is to create a large file and fill in the "blanks", it's harder to do it the way others are doing it.
But some of you people out there think this is the best client, it's like a cult and you are all crazy because this client was and still is very basic and any beginning programmer out of school could write this.
Have fun with your XoloX cult, humans are so silly.

I may have had the “file stream error problem” back then, after installing one of the patched versions. But other than that, I’ve kept my download folder and temp folder the same from “XoloX version 1.09” on. The Job Segment files I found hidden, where from after “Dec. 1”.

isn't the destination info stored in the resumeinfo.txt? it may be due to filestream error, then destination folder not found, but i don't know. see if it happens with v1.18 :-)
