Bugs

Ok, I thought I would make a thread of the bugs I know about.

Major bugs:
>Changing download directory reults in MAJOR probs
>WinME users experience crashing [although XoloX may not be necessary to make ME crash, lol.]
>Safe downloading still happens when option isnt enabled
>Freezes on startup about 1 of 5 times when tip of the day isnt enabled.

Other Bugs:
>Access violations occur with some third party mouse software, IE: Pointers XP

Display glitches ::
>Upload speed is truncated
>Downloads go from 99% to 105%, then to 100%

Other problems:
>Excessive CPU usage at times.

I would like to add, however, this is a beta; as far as betas go, this is an excellent program.

Gamer some of those bugs I added to the FAQ days ago and reported weeks ago because they were bugs I figured out solutions for and in turn let you know about.

>Changing download directory reults in MAJOR probs
FAQ questions and answer. I told all about it weeks ago including you.

>Freezes on startup about 1 of 5 times when tip of the day isnt >enabled.
Also told you about it

>Display glitches ::
>Upload speed is truncated
Everyone noticed that and has been reported in many other posts.

>Downloads go from 99% to 105%, then to 100%
Minor , i believe this has to do with the estimates

However I am glad you put this post up and will make it a sticky and the public can post the many bugs we collectively already know about to avoid this sort of repeats on the forum. Also read the FAQ , I cover many of the major bugs for this build in the XoloX Q&A.

known bugs in addition to the ones listed above:
-1)When going upgrading from an older build or version to a new one , deleting the registry key is a must to avoid many freezing up issues and other small quirks

2) Exception EFOpenError in "SocketDataAvailable" errors and similar upon connect.
- Users are welcome to join Chat to help isolate and troubleshoot this one.

3)Error message: 'Unhandled exception EConvertError Exception message:''132546'' is not a valid time'
- Users are welcome to join Chat to help isolate and troubleshoot this one.

4)Changing download directory reults in MAJOR probs
- Known - in FAQ under searching and downloading

5)WinME users experience crashing [although XoloX may not be necessary to make ME crash, lol.]
argh, wME is brutal
6)Safe downloading still happens when option isnt enabled
- Any others with this? This is the first I hear of this isolated bug.

7)Freezes on startup about 1 of 5 times when tip of the day isnt enabled.
- Known - Also in FAQ in 'installation' section.

8)Access violations occur with some third party mouse software, IE: Pointers XP
- Known bug and solution thanks to Gamer

9) >Upload speed is truncated
- Known and obvious :)

10) add Other bugs below !

Please post your bugs here rather then new threads that will only add the confusion. Although there is a database of bugs from the reporting system, this is for Forum users to avoid repeating the same issues while also helping us solve them.
Feel free to join #XoloXHelp room on chat and we can help troubleshoot new problems together.

thanks!

For some reason whenever I close Xolox my entire computer restarts. No "nice" shutdown, it just acts as if I pushed the "reset" button on my computer. Then when I boot up it wants me to do a disk check and it finds some files that need to be truncated.

I'm running:

Windows XP - Professional
256MB of DDRRam
Athlon XP 1700+ (1.47ghz)
1x13GB harddrive 7200rpm
1x40gb harddrive 7200rpm

Cable modem 1.5mbps/128kbps

Also, no, I don't have CursorXP.

Try this:
1. - Create a new folder in the same folder you installed XoloX and name it 'temp'. (i.e.: /program files/XoloX/temp).
- To create a new folder within a Windows directory; Right Click > Choose 'New' > 'New Folder' and rename it to 'Temp'.
2. - Now within XoloX go to Tools > Preferences > Downloads Tab. Set the 'save incomplete files to this directory' setting to the new folder you just created.

Still no luck. I know why the files need to be truncated, it's because they were being accessed when the computer shuts off. It's like, I hit the X on xolox, it goes down to the tray, I right click, hit exit, and immediatly after I click exit my screen goes black and starts the bootup procedure.

this error message occurs to me too...so I can't use properly xolox 1.18, even if it's a very good program P2P.
I'm running WinME, NIS 2002.

ME has known issues.

I run it on XP Pro with Norton AV 2002 myself, and I'm yet to have beta 3 crash on me. I dont need a firewall myself so I'm not sure if norton firewall might cause a problem [I have a router].

KayaMan June 6th, 2002 08:55 PM

If you get this error ( has been rather common) :

Error message: 'Unhandled exception EConvertError Exception
message:''173446'' is not a valid time'
or comething close to this......

Then you will need to change your regional settings in Windows for the display of time.
Go to Start > Control Panel > Regional Settings > general > 'Time' Tab. ( in wXP have to click on the 'customize' button )

Make sure the AM and PM symbols are set to AM / PM and NOT a.m./p.m. If you already have the regional setting to English / U.S. this is likely not needed.

Anyway thanks to 'tom1' in Chat for helping solve this bug.

Will be added to FAQ and addressed in later builds.

well my dll went to 100% --> 105% --> 126 %, and still busy. Is it gonna stop sometime? I read the bug goes to 105 and then back to 100 but I'm at 126% for the moment. What can I do about it?

Unregistered June 8th, 2002 08:21 AM

For some reason, the restarting problem is back, not with Xolox, but with WinMX, but it's the same kindof thing. The reason it was restarting is because XP has it set default to restart on a program stop on my machine for some reason. The error was:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

STOP: 0x000000D1

I forgot which file it had this in, but I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the network card as it only happens when I use bandwidth intensive programs (i.e. Xolox, WinMX, whatever).

Time to troubleshoot :P

error reporting in build 118

Running winxp and have a home network with intel anypoint and also run pcanywhere. When I upgraded from build 50 to build 118 I started to get the access violation problem with every start and it woould never seem to completely send the bug report. When I uninstalled and cleared the registry and went back to build 50 the computer has been running a full 12 hours so far with no problems.

The only other thing I've noticed is some downloads are listed as active but 0.0 bytes for speed and they never seem to change.

GUI problem

just a note on the 1.18b3 -- in the "Upload Transfers" box, I see the field "Name" and the values below that. But there is another field scrunched up against the right-hand side of the box, with numbers. All I can tell is that it has numbers. But it's too scrunched to see/use, and the field is not resizable.

The point? -- pls make the field/column resizable.

Looks good otherwise.

DeBaan I moved your thread here - thanks for reporting the bug and as you can see is known bug.

Crash Crazy

I'm using Windows ME, which from the posts I've heard Xolox doesn't like ME all that much. I'm in agreement with Xolox as far as disliking windows versions ;), but at this point it crashes almost as soon as I double click on it. Then the basics, it blinks and gives me a blue screen with an error message and I have no alternative but to restart my computer. Are there any quick fixes I can do to keep it form crashing so much?

Gamer June 13th, 2002 12:59 AM

Only if we knew the cause.. Other ME users never have any problems...

Wolf June 13th, 2002 09:18 PM

Error Message

Here's what the message is.

"An exception OE has ocurred at 0028:C0012D2C in VXD ---. This was called from 0028:C001D218 in VXD ---."

Any ideas?

Wolf
