virus disguised as "!!!band_name.asf" ? i've seen many files that come up in my music searches that look like this (for example: !!!smashing_pumpkins.asf). i was insane enough to actually download one of these, and a realvideo file opened and only displayed the word "Warning" in fiery letters. i deleted the file but i'm really paranoid now and i've got my antivirus programs set to maximum protection. has anyone else come across these files and had a problem?? they seem to be everywhere so there has to be someone who knows. thanks in advance for your help. |
if you do the search type 'audio' the .asf extension would NOT be returned. For safer and more effecient downloading choose the 'search type' |
!!!file_name.mp3 AND !-!file_name.mp3 I use the "Audio" filter and get these type of files sometimes when I do a search. Sometimes it is the only file that is found. These files are around 19K, so I know it's too small to be useful. I thought it was XoloX sending a search query through the network, because whatever I search for may return a file of this type: !!!search_term.mp3. Lately I see a file of this type: !-!search_term.mp3. I've been ignoring them, but I wonder who is watching.... |

The filtering out of even more bogus files has been added to our feature request - it something we wanted to improve on for a while and already do a pretty good job of. |
