Thumbs down sorry, but I'll pass

Just thought I'd jump in and say I gave XoloX a chance for a long time now. I used to like it, but with the recent changes, I have decided to go back to WinMX and Kazaa Lite. Both have multi-source downloading now and they have become very popular so there's lots to find using them. Besides, both these programs have much more user control than XoloX. Which is designed for simplicity I guess. (idiot proof is more like it) I feel that people are smarter than you guys give them credit for and you need make your software more usable. This 'simple' crap just don't cut it. You should take a look at programs like WinMX and Kazaa Lite for some inspiration. No insult intended, but face facts, if people don't like it they won't use it.

thypentacle:
You've got to be kidding me, winMX is one of the worst p2p apps around. Unless you trade with someone or wait DAYS on a queue.. good luck getting a file from another winMX user. winMX users leech off other opennap protocol clients.
As for kazaa-lite ( hacked kazaa) , the results you get come no where close to the selection available on gnutella.
My recommendation for you if you want a less "simple" program then try Gnucleus.
And the 'smarter then we give them credit for' comment, XoloX *intended* to be simple. While I agree XoloX can use more features ( which will as it progresses) , I really think you are judging the intention wrong. I could just as easily say the *smarter* users use XoloX because they don't need to spend hours tweaking a program.

Default WinMX

I have tried them all and WinMX (version 3.22) is still the best for me. I hit download speeds of 10-27k a sec on a regular basis and that's fast enough for me. At this very moment I'm downloading two movies and a pc game with a total current download speed of 32k a sec and I'm not in a que for any of them. :o)

As for the tweaking, I haven't tweaked WinMX at all, it worked right from the start with no changes. It is true though that WinMX is full of leechers, I really hate that, so it does need a feature to disable sharing with users that don't share. I don't think XoloX has that, does it? To my knowledge LimeWire is the only one that offers that, but that's the only good thing about that POS software. Like I said, XoloX is OK, but it's far from being ready in my opinion. I am thankful for what I was able to download when it used to work though.

I think WinMX is my only good option and it seems to be working very well for me at this point. I don't even have to use the extra servers options. The WinMX peer network alone has a lot to offer. Being put in a que can suck at times, but 25% of the time, if you're nice, and message the person your trying to download from if they could start your transfer they will start you up ahead of everyone else, but only if you yourself are sharing as well. :o)

As for Kazaa Lite, it's very handy to find rare software or movies, but the download speeds really suck ***. However, they do complete eventually.

Nuff said.

I do not understand why all these people are having trouble getting a download to complete. I have never had this problem. IT sounds like some people are just too impatience to wait on the download to complete.
