Network connection error

When I start Xolox I get a dialog box with the following message:

Xolox: Network connection error. Do you want to reconfigure network settings? [yes] [no] [ignore]

Selecting Yes brings up a blank dialog window that effectively freezes the program requiring a task manager kill. Selecting either no or ignore (what's the difference? :-) leaves the program running but apparently unconnected since searches don't turn up anything. Any clues to what could be happening?

Xolox version 1.20 build 177
Windows 2000
no proxy
