Aha.. alcatel usb modem.. i have one of those.. in combination with a VIA chipset it can cause XP to crash on USB activity (read modem). Cheach the via site for the USB filter patch or try modding your bios (for me the memory settings screwed things up). For more details on this issue, see: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=64 Regs, Mike |

XP Reboots for no apparant reason I have exactly the same problem, PC crashes countinously for no apparant reason (1.2g Athalon, 256 SDRAM, XP Pro). I encountered this problem with the previous XOLOLX version, and now with 1.20. I also have BT Broadband and an alcatel modem, and reported this as a possible fault to BT, but they deny any fault, despite the modem driver not being signed my MS. During 1 crash yesterday, AND 1 crash today, my previous downloads that where either Queud or in the process of being downloaded dissapeared, and I now have another empty Transfers window, yet hadn't encountered this problem with the previous version. Looks like my problems have become worse, not better with this latest version. |
