Angry connection problems

I've downloaded the latest version but cannot get connected. It worked last week but now all I get is the message "Connecting to the Gnutella network...". And it is NOT connecting so nothing works!
I'm not using a firewall and I'm on Windows 98 second version
Help and advice, please.

Angry

I have been experiencing the exact same problem. Thought it might be Zonealarm, shut it off, still just says "connecting to the Gnutella network". Limewire worked for me 2 days ago, now it can't establish a connection either. Does anyone know what's up with Gnutella?

Unhappy

I also have been getting the "connecting to gnutella network" thing. It started happening a couple of days ago or I would be connected and then booted. So, I tried uninstalling old version
(BIG mistake). Then installed new version. Didn't work so I uninstalled new completely(deleted registry) and installed old version. Now, it seems to me when I first tried XOLOX i had to jump start it by adding hosts to host lists. The thing is I can't find host lists anymore, All the places that used to post them are gone(RIAA?). So, anyway I'm letting XOLOX run, sitting there doing whatever it is doing. I am behind router but it worked before w/o any tweaking so I have not tried that. Did try turning off proxy in IE but then I couldn't go online. lol Don't mind the ads except that stupid casino ad that kept crashing the program.

The trouble with ignorance is that it picks up confidence as it goes along.

Default

If you need proxies in IE then you need them in Xolox. When you uninstalled you probably removed those settings. You need to reconfigure you proxy settings in Xolox.

Smile host list

Thank you for your help. It turned out it was the hostlist.
The new link on the home page did the trick.

Back in business.
