Can't connect - Caused by missing hostslist.txt file

I was never able to connect since installing Xolox. Someone sent me their hostslist.txt file thinking it might be better. I went to replace mine and was surprised to find that I didn't have one. I saved the new one in C:\Program Files\Xolox, restarted Xolox and everything started working.

Do you have a firewall and/or a proxy?

Hostslist.txt missing from 1.22 install??

I appear to have the same problem. I did a clean install of Xolox 1.22 and can not connect. I checked my Xolox folder and voila! no hostslist.txt file. Is is possible for the Xolox team to post a link to the file so that we can download the most recent / working copy of the file? In the interim, would someone please post thier copy?

Thank you
medfly

Thank you ... it works fine now. Not sure why the file didn't install but... I am up and running now.

Cheers!

The hostslist.txt isnt missing on a clean install, the list is hardcoded in and *then* a list is built and saved once good hosts are found.

Anyway to sort connection issues there is a link on the start page for replacing the hostslist.txt

...I see what is going on... thanks for the clarification

Were all the hosts in the hard-coded list unavailable, or just overloaded?

Also, can anyone point me to a moderately technical overview of how Gnutella operates? I don't want protocol specs.

can hostlists be combined?

Currently, there are two different host lists available in the forum's to download. Plus - I have one of my own. Can host lists be combined to form one large list?

Am I better off keeping the one that my program has created?

I am still having problems with xolox staying connected for a long enough periods of time to download any files. Normally, it runs for about 5 to 10 minutes before an error occurs. For some reason, today when I try to run it, the error occurs within about 1-2 minutes after it connects with the Gnutella network. Strange!
I am running V1.22 build 263

Still cant connect on three different machines with the posted hotlist files.. and this is not a network issue as other file sharing clients work on all of these machines... The hotlist from www.xolox.nl worked for about 10 secs and then would no longer work. Whats the deal yo ?

Antihedron, you da man!

The last week or so, I noticed a strange set of connections/disconnections on my Xolox. Well this morning, when I got home from work, I noticed all my searches remained pending. Well I downloaded the hostlist that you had and checked my hostlist and noticed mine was empty. I installed your version and noticed (duh) that I instantly had my downloads resume again and could do searches again.

Thanks for pointing out something I had already known, but forgotten....
