Resources

Hi

Is there any way to reduce system resource usage?
Any recommended optimium settings?
I've briefly scanned the forums but don't see anyone else experiencing this particualr problem. Surely I'm not alone?

The program (v1.22) installed and runs ok, no error messages, it connects to the network ok, search runs ok (mainly audio, some video), transfers run ok :) . . . but after a while, the interface starts to freeze up, and when I open resource meter it warns that less than 10% of system resources are available.
If I manage to access the XoloX gui and select:
File menu -> work offline
then all system resources are freed again.

Relevant sys specs:
mobo: MSI 6380E w/ VIA KT333 chipset
cpu: Athlon XP 1600+
ram: 256mb ddr 2100
os: WinME :(
video: Hercules 3D Prophet Kyro2 (64mb)
sound: SBLive 5.1
hdd: seagate 60gb 7200 (40Gb free)
DirectX: 8.1b

All latest drivers & updates installed

A-V (disabled & closed): PC-Cillin 2000
Connection: ADSL 576000 bps
firewall: ZoneAlarm (standard, not pro) = running!

Any ideas?

Cheers!

IT is your OS. WinME has resorse management problems, expecially with Xolox. Try switching to a stabler OS. :)

Yup , wME has this issue and to echo the above response especially using XoloX.

Future versions ( in the near future) will be much more resourceful.

Oh really?

In the meantime, I'll stick with Gnucleus then.
Superfast transfers, 100's of results, no problems, no built-in annoying ads, plus I can run as many programs as I need to simultaneously (incl. Winamp3, PC-Cillin, ZoneAlarm, IE, Outlook, Frontpage, UT, and then some), and still have plenty of free resources.

Bloomin' Marvellous, eh? :D

Cheers :)
