i cannot connect either... i have had this problem for a few weeks now.would any one know why?now, however, even tho my dsl connection is slow[i've been having problems with this since saturday afternoon],oddly enuff,i can at last connect... now it either says'connecting to gnutella network' or'net work ok'. what's up?? |
 And what is your problem? It sounds like Xolox is behaving normally. Note: It is alot easier to understand some one when they use atleast some grammer and punctuation. It does not need to be perfect (like mine is...), but messages like yours can make it hard to be sure what you are saying. |
For about a week now each time I load up Xolox, I'm left waiting with the "Connecting to the Gnutella network" status...ie. I no longer receive the "Network ok" status reading. What's happening? |
I'm not quite sure what the problem is. Almost anything that would interfeare with connecting will give you that. For instance, you are running another Gnutella servent at the same time. It could also be simply that you are only getting a partial connection. Try starting Xolox. Wait a few minuets. Then try a search. (something common is best) If Xolox responds with "search pending" then you have no connection at all. (or at least at that moment) |
:) Thanks antihedron, I shall try what you suggest. |
if you didnt already try replacing your hostsfile.txt in the same directory as the xolox.exe ( c:/program files/xolox) in this *current* version , do so. You can get a good one here: www.xolox.nl/hostslist.txt "... the 'connecting' issue is more and more common and we've had the 'connection problem' link on the site offering a fresh hostlists for well over a week.. now it's just sending to get a more recent build from cnet i believe. The developers have been working extra hard to put a new version out... veeery soon. It is much improved with connectivity and searches, some much requested features, and some new things that is only opening the way for a lot more in builds after it." |
...I wonder if they will use my passive searching idea. It could really improve Xolox's performance. |

Xolox already researches automatically, provided the feature is active in the preferences. |
