File's won't start downloading

I have a problem. When I select a file to download it just constantly searches and nothing happens. I have only managed to download ONE song, and that went really fast! How can I sort this out??

Can't download

I have been trying to download files for the last 2 & 1/2 hours and finally managed to download 3 songs. But my connection is very slow, I have thought all along that this would be the norm for me. But now I wonder if this is the norm for everyone.

Oh well, I still keep trying!:(

No help!

That's no help at all! (Sorry!) Ok, I'll explain in more detail...

I'm using a university networked computer from my room in Student Halls. I know that the university has a firewall, but XoloX can by-pass that...hence I managed to download a song the first time I tried. BUT, when I tried to download any more (and I tried loads of both music and Mpegs) the files stay on Connecting or Searching, but never starts to download. Oh and before you ask, I do get the message at the bottom of the screen saying "Network ok."

If you tell me I have to force my IP address, that's fine, I know that you type in winipcfg into the START > RUN menu, but how do you find which port to use? Asking the Network Administrator is not an option I don't think. Anyway, I've given you loads of information so that should help. Thanks.

WinIPCFG is likely giving you an internal ip rather than the external IP you want.. For port try something a bit random, like 25357.

Odds are everything is going to require a PUSH to be sent to you behind that firewall so file availability wont be great. They may also be blocking all connections on port 6346 which would further reduce the availablity of files.

richlee1982 has been asking me about this through PMs as well as this thread... As this thread is already here I see little reason to use it, so I will post my last PM.

If you can connect to the network then there is nothing you need to fix. However, when behind a firwall your chances of a succesful download go down signifigantly. Because of the way firewalls work two poeple with firewall can not connect to each other. This also makes connecting to the network take longer as well because many other hosts will not connect as they have firewalls and connecting to a firewalled host takes longer than a normal one. When downloading files, you will not be able to use many hosts, somtimes more than half, because of firewalls.

Ok cheers! I selected about 50 and I got one downloading. 2% is better than nothing! Thanks
