Not connecting through proxy

When I try to connect through a proxy server, Xolox doesn't connect. When I have a direct internet connection, it works though. What's the problem?

You must set up Xolox to work with your proxy. This can be found in the advanced networking options through a button called "reconfigure proxy settings".

Sorry. I forgot people assume stupidity if not given all the facts. :) I already reconfigured the connection settings to work with a proxy.

Considering that most questions here are asked by people who don't have a clue it is usually best to try the simplest things first.

Xolox should work through a proxy provided you have set it properly. Make sure that the settings match the proxy. If the proxy is yours you might want to try using a different configuration in case it is some abnomalitiy with the way you have it set up. Also, you may want to make sure that there is no firewall on the proxy (proxy is not yours). If so you will need to open port 6346.

The settings that I'm using worked on an older version of Xolox and I'm able to access the internet through IE with the same settings so I know they work.

How do I open port 6346?

That depends on your firewall, but if it worked previously with a firewall ot should be ok. You can try downgrading if necessary.

Where can I get an older version? I think the last version that worked for me was 1.1 something. I don't know the exact version.

It could very well be the proxy you are using limits to to standard http ports. Try using a few other proxies?

( make sure you're using socks4 or 5 proxies btw for the gnutella connections , *not* a web proxy - a web proxy will not work for the gnutella connection )

I'm using socks5 port 80 with PPPshar pro. connecting 2 comps using p2p.

Xolox uses port 6346, the standard Gnutella port. Like Kaya said make sure that the proxy allowes you to use this port. Otherwise you could try changing the port number Xolox uses, (advanced networking options) but using prot 80 may cause problems with other programs.
