Smile Upgrade request

Morning Jude

or is it , calemara , te kanis , cala ne ? (scuse the spelling by phonetically I know what i mean)

What I have here is a w2k pro with 2 3com nic's which ever one is bound as the primary is the one that the ip address resolver picks up, it would be usefull for me to have both displayed.

does this make sense ?

cheers again for a goor usefull proglet

Default WINIPCFG

Someone mentioned a mod to provide the IPs of multiple Ethernet cards... You probably already have this on your computer (it comes with Windows 98 and higher, as well as some versions of 95)... Type in "winipcfg" into the Run dialog.

I only wanna add that winipcfg/ipconfig will give your local IP(s). If you're behing a proxy/firewall (your local IP will typically look like 10.x.x..x or 192.168.x.x) you still need to know the "real" IP.

This is what I ment with "The port is usualy 6346, but the IP is more difficult to find "

Cool Missing the point

Thanks for the primer in network management guys ....

but I think you are missing the point or have not run Jude's prog.

this will give a display of the IP in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. What I need is both my IP addresses displayed at the same time. Yes I can do this with ipconfig etc. but I would like a TSR which keeps me updated.

Thanks for the feedback tho.

Hey guys I'm back from vacation - anyone miss me? no? dayum:-)

ok - here's the plot for the ip resolving.

run razzmon at server - you don't have to connect using it but it has to be running - then you will see the 'real' ip address show up in the razzmon client from any of the machines on your network, do this by normal clicking (left) on the monitor icons which are in the system tray next to the clock (or there abouts) - this brings up a little window which has the real ip address shown inside it.

then - for each machine on your network, run that other lil program and this will give you your local (logical) ip address displayed on the screen in black little numbers -

if all this makes your feet ache - try this page

http://www.lawrencegoetz.com/programs/ipinfo

or you can build it into your own page if you have one - use ...

<A
HREF="http://www.lawrencegoetz.com/programs/ipinfo/"See your ip address here</A>

.. even if you guys didn't miss me - i missed you:-)

Peace,

Jude

oops - didnt realise it would filter out the rest of the markup - dang it i have to become registered i guess then i can edit stuff. ok i will.

around the body of the previous markup you need to start with (will this work now i wonder?)

hmm lets try it <A (thats a less than symbol followed by a A no space in between the two characters)

and finish with a </A> (thats a less than symbol followed by forward slash then A the a greater than symbol no space in between the four characters)

im gonna write this out in full just in case it doesn't show up - dont leave spaces in it or it won't work

< A
H R E F http://www.lawrencegoetz.com/programs/ipinfo / " see your ip address here < / A >

ok - im registering

Jude
