Question on uploads

When I start up Xolox and look at the upload transfers I see people connecting and trying to download files I have in my shared files, they will stay connected for just a few seconds then drop. This seems strange to me because there is no one else downloading from me, I don’t understand why the transfer doesn’t start. Is this just a search request? Eventually transfers will start and soon use up all my upload bandwidth.

Does Xolox limit new connections after bandwidth is maxed?

Same happens to me ... :(

Same happens to me ... as I'm using a Wingate Proxy Server here at home I thought my Proxy would somehow be responsible for this strange behaviour.

A progress indicator would be a good thing ... to give one some orientation what's happening with the uploads ...

This won't happen if your file is unique.

xolox will attempt transfer from your shared file and extract as necessary until it has completed the requesting user's download and will probably only be getting one segment (or part) of the file from you. Multiple file shares of same file facilitate fast download as only one piece (segment, part) is required from each active user.

Peace.

Hi,
I see those download & drop after a few seconds quite often. This happens not only at startup also everytime you have some free slots for uploaders. I have it on my list for reporting possible Xolox bugs, but wanted to wait until Xolox team had fixed some other problems.
I never mentioned this behaviour with other Gnutella clients (e.g. Bearshare) and I think it might be a communication problem between Xolox and differnet clients. Propably another client drops the connection because the data stream is too fast or too slow?

hmm...

Well, in my tests where I connected BearShare to XoloX (on different ports) Bearshare would make an outgoing connection, searches would work ok, data would be sent back and forth, but anywhere from 5 seconds to 2 minutes later BS would drop the connection saying: "host didn't respond"

I didn't have any problems downloading from XoloX, but I was downloading locally, so... *shrug*
