Downloads stop at 98% then restart WTF??????? What is going on here.... downloads will invariably STOP at 98% and often sit there for hours without finishing... if it was just one jerk who disconnected it would be one thing, but this happens so much that I don't think it is the other person... It doesn't happen all the time, and it usually only happens with big files 200mb+ while it stoping is annoying, but not that bad, what really ****es me off, is that the downloads will often restart at like 20% WTF is going on, that is a lot of data that is being lost! what happened to it... I'm not sure, but I think it only happens when I close the program when the DL is at 98% for a while, as I haven't observed a restarted download otherwise, but I haven't actually seen it revert, just see a download that I saw a while ago at 98% at 25% and get ****ed off.... WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE???? |

THnx that is a lot of help seriously where is this answer... I found someone who had the exact same question, but nobody answered him! please help me out, and don't be a dumbass late |
When downloading form multiple hosts XoloX verifies the segments before putting them together. If a wrongly served segment is encountered it will be dropped. Henche why you'll see a drop in percentage since that part was downloaded and needs to be downloaded again from another client. Got that? |
hmmm... I guess it would be nice then if it checked more often, its annoying to lose 80% of a 700mb file, that is fairly rare, and took you several days to get! guess this should go in feature request... late |
I have never seen Xolox droping more than a few percent when receiving wrong data, so no need for a feature request? I posted in another thread a possibility to speed up creating the final file, which will also limit possible looses. There has been no response so far. |
First things first Moak. |
I'm not talking about a few % I'm talking about going from 98% to 20% in a 700mb file! I can understand going back a few percent, but not 80% of the downloaded file... there was another post that someone asked the same question, but no one answered it... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...?threadid=3667 is this what you are talking about mvoosten??? is that the error checking??? it doesn't seem like it would drop this much from the download. thnx |
mvoosten, didn't want to hurry :) |
hmm... Look in your registry un HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xolox and see if "dropincorrectsegments" = "0" or doens't exist. In the preferences this is "Drop and retry incorrect segments" but I don't know if the registry keys are created if you haven' t been to your preference tabs. If you are on broadband and are downloading from a fast host, it's concevable that you may get a large amount of the file in one chunk, then XoloX goes to put the peices together and they don't match up... When "dropincorrectsegments" = "1" I think XoloX does the check after the fisrt 2K has been downloaded to see if it can be synched with the prior segment. |
just looked... and dropincorrectsegments="0" which should it be? 1 or 0? thnx |
wait... no its 1 my bad... its 1, should it be 0? |
register Register and you can edit your posts. ;) Anyway, it should be set to 1 I think. I don't know why it would drop so much of a file though if that's what it's set to... perhaps a dumb question, but what version of XoloX are you running? |
its version 1.12 i dunno whats goin on but something isn't right! |
