What are the steps to move the temp and downloads directories to a bigger hard drive? The hard drive I'm downloading my files to is starting to fill up (with a program that works as well as Xolox, it's not hard to see how!). I've moved all the completed download files to another location, but the temp folder still occupies a considerable amount of space- almost 600 MB. What EXACTLY do I need to do (step by step, from "close down XoloX" or whatever onward) to move the temp and download directories to another location where there is more room? Do I simply move the temp and downloads folders to a roomier hard drive and configure XoloX to use the new temp and downloads directory paths? If so, that's no problem. What I'm concerned about is any additional files/folders that may need to be moved or modified in some way to ensure I don't screw something up and lose all my temporary downloads. Basically I want to make sure I can seamlessly migrate the bulky temp and downloads data folders from one drive to another and not lose any temp downloads or break anything. How do I do that? |
step by step 1. Create the new directories 2. Change preferences to point to the new directories 3. Shut down XoloX! 4. Go to the XoloX program directory 5. Change any occurency of the former paths to the new ones. Watch out: You have to change path for the temp files as well as for the finished downloads, else you'll find those downloads named as XoloX temp files in the temp dir of XoloX. And it is not funny to search for the right files ... :( 6. Move the content of the old dirs to the new dirs. 7. Restart XoloX 8. Have fun sharing ;) flare |
