Default use of gnutella with ZoneAlarm

Hey there, I have the free firewall program ZoneAlarm (which is very educational, as I get to see all the times that my Real Player, and various other software programs try to contact servers at their companies...at least this is what I believe is going on, as ZoneAlarm pops up with "do you accept this request" all the time...) For some reason, I'm not able to use a program like Xolox at the same time I am using ZoneAlarm. Would you know why, or what the possible causes are?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm, it's been a while since I've used it... but... set the permissions for XoloX to allow any outgoing TCP conenctions, and any incoming TCP connections on 6436.

Then turn off the "learning mode" where it tries to learn new rules automatically and pops up windiws all the time asking what you want to do with stuff...

Hi,

you can change your settings in ZA under programs - xolox and all other gnet clients need both, "allow connect" and "allow server"!

If the settings are not changed...

ZA ask you if you want to allow the prog connect or not...
just check the sentence "remenber..." - now ZA knows what to do with the prog next time, without changing anything!

Default ZoneAlarm

Tried this, as far as remembering xolox. Didn't seem to help. When za is on, even if downloads are in the middle of downloading, within 10 seconds, down to zero.

Thanks for the effort though. Any other thoughts, anyone?

Smile ZoneAlarm

Actually, deleted from Zone Alarm memory, and had xolox run again, this time seems to be working without a problem. I had uninstalled and reinstalled xolox, and I hadn't updated the information in ZoneAlarm...don't know if this is what it was, but seems to be working now...thanks!
