Only 2 of 7 hosts What do you have to do to connect to more than 2 or 3 hosts? I consistently connect to only 2 hosts, although occasionally I will connect to 3. I tried removing all of my Webcache Servers and adding a new group, but that had no effect. Perhaps I just don't understand what a "host" is. Some explanation would be greatly appreciated. |
There is not much you can do. Just sit around and hope that you can find some more hosts that will let you connect. |
OK. But about "hosts"... Exactly what is a "host?" The FAQ says Xolox doesn't use "super-nodes" so that isn't a host. Is it any other computer on the gnutella network? If so, why is it, when the status bar says I'm connected to 6 of 7 hosts (as it is right now - real unusual) and I go to my download tab, I am neither uploading nor downloading anything. Is it because I'm connected to X number of hosts (back down to 2), but they aren't the computers with the files I have requested? One more question while I'm at it. The old Gnutella client used to show thousands of computers I was connected to. It counted the entire "tree" of connections. Is this number of hosts the computers to which I am directly connected? Not trying to pick nits here. Just trying to understand. Thanks! |
Host(s) 6 of 7...etc... I have to agree...I only have one or two peers today. Last night I had thousands of connections. So, what happened? This doesn't make sense to me. I can't believe if I go to bed and awake that everyone in the world decided to turn off their computers. Any help in this would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance! |
