What's the "wait" when downloading Seems like a great new peer - really nice work! I do have a question - when I start a new download why does it begin with a "wait" status? What's it waiting for exactly? It concerns me because if the source is firewalled and you wait before doing a push, there's a very good chance the push route will be stale. Anything firewalled (or maybe with a private IP address range) should push as soon as possible. I've always found the key to getting push to work is acting fast. The routes may only be good for a minute or two - especially if there's a number of hops. Once even one of the hops looses the connection, the push will never work. |
Wait state hi! I will change it until tomorrow (11.02. 2200 CET)! Please download the 1.41 beta then! THX says: - godXBlue |
Hi, Thanks for the reply! I've got 1.41 now but it still shows "wait" for about 1 minute when I start a new download. I don't know if it may be doing something during this time though. I should mention most of the files I look for are large (100+ meg) and hard to find. They often don't have multiple hosts (in case it's waiting for more results or something). Most of the time they're firewalled too, so I do rely on pushes a lot. A kind of unrelated question: when it looks for new mirrors of a file does it use the original search terms, or does it search on the full filename? BTW, very interesting custom GUI! Displays quite fast too. |
Ah! I think I answered my own question! I see the "Search/Hash" value in the right column. Seems to use the filename as a basis. Is there a way to edit this? Sometimes the filenames aren't exactly the same and that might prevent it from finding all matches. Gnucleus does a nice trick where it uses the original search terms, but allows you to edit them to be more specific if necessary. |
Search Term hi, yes I will add an editbar to the download windows. So you can edit the "Search/Hash". I will update to this newer beta version tomorrow, first i have to find a little bug! :) - godXBlue |
