![]() ] I was left with no option but to delete the folder for the Pictures shortcut when i was told that it was not working because it had been either changed, moved, or deleted !! I did neither of these things before i was left with no option but to delete the shortcut, in answer to the internet question: "Do you want to delete this shortcut?" Am told that the contents of a deleted shortcut are saved not lost, but where ? I cannot find them anywhere, not even on my external hard drive. Thank you in advance for helping me out of this dilemma. joe B. |

![]() My usual thanks for all the trouble you take to help me, not least your patience with an 86yr-old OAP... What bothers me most with these "blessed" shortcuts is that the computer suddenly decides to delete any one them without any previous warning, thus losing all my files irretrievably in the deleted shortcuts. Only yesterday, the computer decided to delete my PICTURES folder, rendering it impossible to retrieve and losing forever all the photos i had entered in it. IT BROKE MY HEART... Usually, if the deleted folder has been saved in my external hard drive and the drive is unplugged, the deleted folder can easily be restored from the drive. What drives me crazy is that this does not always happen. I have printed your detailed tip about stopping the pc from, of its own accord, creating unwanted shortcuts, and will try it out, using caution, of course, as you suggest, lest I make mistakes in navigation. Goognight and best reagrds. Joe B. |
