Firstly double-check the chrome app is still ok. Go to Start menu and locate Google Chrome alphabetically and then launch the app.

I'm inevitably not the ideal person to answer this kind of Windows question and best answer.

If Chrome launches then that means the app is OK. But it also means your icons have lost their links or broken in some other way. Whilst it might work to right-click the icons and choose properties to ensure the shortcuts are pointing to the correct location, it might be easier for you personally to create new shortcuts instead.

Read below before doing the next sentence's suggestion. Delete any shortcuts on desktop or taskbar that are not working.

Go back to Start Menu & again find Google Chrome & right-click the Google Chrome icon and you will see options as shown below:

There are options as you can see. Such as to remove the icon from Taskbar by choosing Unpin. Then you can re-add by going back and choosing Pin to Taskbar.
After you have Pinned Chrome to Taskbar, go to Taskbar, right-click Google Chrome and choose Send To > Desktop (create Shortcut.) Although before creating a desktop shortcut, it might be wise to first do a test by launching Google Chrome from the Taskbar to be sure it is working. If it works, then quit Chrome, create a desktop shortcut and test the shortcut by launching chrome using the desktop shortcut.

By the way, whilst everything was ok before this, did you install DesktopOK? And did you save the positioning of the Desktop icons?
