Default How do I erase inappropriate videos

I recently discovered some pornographic content in my shared folder that was not something I downloaded. Some of it was quite disturbing.

I have 3 questions pertaining to this fact. 1) how did it happen to find it's way to my shared folder? 2) what do I do to get rid of it completely, meaning, leave no trace of it on my system and 3) does this happen a lot?

If it happens a lot how do we deal with it? What kinds of security measures are taken to see what is being shared? Some f this must certainly be illegal. I'm just seriously concerned that if this kind of crap keeps finding it's way into my computer it could lead to trouble.

Anyone with information on how to get rid of this stuff would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello mattstar,

If you discovered porno in your shared folder, and you are the only person using your computer, you must have downloaded it yourself I guess.
Is it a case where filename and content does not match ?
It happens that people rename nasty content to look like something innocent.
There's not much to do about it P2P is a bit like a jungle.
If you want to be safe, the best thing to do is to not download pic's and video's.
Music files are usually safe.

The safest way to get rid of nasty content on you harddrive is indeed to erase the files, if you just delete them there's a possibility that they can be recovered.
There are programmes around that can erase files, I suggest you do a google search for it.
I tried "file erase software" and that brought up a lot of usefull links.
