Virus autoscan Limewire Would someone tell me how I can get NAV to automatically scan files as they come in via Limewire? |
In Norton Anti-Virus... Options Enable Auto-Protect (Select further options re: start-up etc., etc.) Also, select "Comprehensive file scanning"... A few others to check, especially scanning of compressed files, but I am sure you will see them... If you are running NAV only, I would strongly suggest you increase your protection by also running the extra facilities available with Norton Internet Security... (Which includes NAV as well.) |
That's all? Cool- I was thinking there would be more to it than that... I've already got all that going on... As for system works, I don't know what all's in there.... never tried it... Thank you, btw. |
No probs ! But, keep something in mind... If you Download a 'largish' file, you may have a 'verifying' process going on and the new D/L will be being 'hashed' AND Norton will be doing a scan... ALL at the same time... Have fun watching your CPU usage ! ;) |
NAV How do I get rid of those notification bubbles that always want an OK? |
Well, that all depends on what kind of notification bubbles you are seeing !!! :p Seriously, are they related to Up-Date notices or something sinister such as a Trojan is attempting to storm your back-door ??? (Amazing choice of words for some of these things, huh ?) Up-Date pop-ups or Security Alert Notices ? If you mean the completed Up-Date notice, don't worry about it... You do not actually need to click OK on anything in order for the Up-Date to apply. If you mean the Security Alerts, that depends on several things... Does your version include the 'Visual Tracker' option for 'tracing' intruders ? If so, you will maybe want to use that very often to start... Use it to learn the 'range' of IPs used by the intruder and then block the full range... After doing this for a while, you will notice that you are having fewer and fewer intrusions getting anywhere near you... |
Nope. None of the above.... I apologize for not being more specific. Unfortunately, I dont remember the exact verbage. It's either asking for permission or an acknowledgement relating to the autoscan. Both times I saw the bubble, I clicked OK and the scan completed, so I don't know if it matters or not what I do. The next time I see it, I'll make a point not to click on it (all there is is an OK, no other option), and see if the scan finishes without my feedback. |
