Converting Movies

Hi, I'm new here. I hope someone can help me. I've downloaded several movies, now I want to play them in my DVD player. How do I go about doing this? I have a regular CD writer, but I'm told I can still make copies that I can play in my DVD player. How?

Well since you haven't told us any details I can only guess you'e using windows right? I know for Roxio Easy CD/DVD it requires either mpeg1/2, or AVI. For Nero yo have to either have purchased the most recent version or purchase the xtras plug-ins to convert mp2. For any other format I'd suggest you check out the following website links: http://forum.dvd-guides.com/ & also check out this: http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...e+Search&meta=

Thanks for you speedy reply! As I said, I'm new to all this. I didn't know what information was required. Yes I'm using windows XP Professional. As far as the files go. They are all over the place. Some are AVI, some are MPG and what have you. At the moment I have niether Roxio Easy CD/DVD or Nero. Will either one do all files? Or, do I have to purchase both to get the job done?

Nero is good but, but I didnīt manage to convert all files with it. I donīt know about the other.

You should only require one top level burner app (but many people do ok with less by using multiple utilities.) Before you do anything, may I suggest you post a thread/search on the forum I gave you or else http://www.videohelp.com/ or a google for this topic will find an answer. I don't want you paing out money if there's better ways of doing it. Personally I use a mac & I convert dwnwds from full quality dv to mpeg2 for dvd. Which is a bit different from vcd size using any of the mpeg formats. But I should warn if it's less than 200MB then it's probably not a full movie. It just depends what you'e dwnlding!!! At the sam time beware of the fakes which are usually uch smaller.

Usually 3 but this is no surprise. The SVCD format .mpg is a better quality, DVDs need far more space. perhaps you should try it as a VCD the quality is lower but also the CDs you need.

This is true but in Germany one DVD is more expensive than 6 CDs. :(

No not like hacking. :)

The way is very easy, if you have a good program and these cost usually a lot of money like Nero.

it just aint that important to me
Because its takes very long to convert a video I search for SVCDs and download them, yes I need more time to download a SVCD but I have no problems with converting - just burn and watch. :)
