Can someone pls explain how to open rar files after they have been downloaded. Ty

Click on this line http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Select WinRAR 3.40

or one of the other language versions that are available.

Be careful when you install it after downloading.
It is perhaps advisable for WinRAR to be associated with all other compressed file types EXCEPT .zip

And

If you wish to be able to really deal with almost any compressed file type in circulation, you need

WinZip - Click on this line > http://www.winzip.com/

and

Stuffit - Click on this one > http://www.stuffit.com/win/index.html (which is NOT a Mac only application !)

Why not .zip files? Winrar can handle them without any problems. And why should raul download winzip? Winrar supports more formats than winzip. Winzip is useless if you have Winrar installed.
