Question Why won't my burnt CD's play in my Car Stereo?

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I can play these CD's on any other player with no problem. I have other CD's that I have burned in the past with a different program that play fine. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!

This is not a Gnutella or LimeWire question, but I'm a nice guy. Will your CD's play at all? This is the first step to finding out what the problem really is (CD or stereo). If they will play it might be your stereo, if it is an older model it might not support the reading of burned disks. Second, what format is the music in? Almost all players can read .cda files, but most older players cannot read .mp3, wave, or .wmp, ect, ect... More information will help.

I guess that other players wouldn´t be able to play it, too. And Usplus2 said that all others player are playing the CD. I think Deepblue is right its a CD player which don´t support burnt CDs.

Oh I didn't realise you had to finalise a cd to use it in a car stereo. Must be a difference b/w mac & windows softw. Which wouldn't surprise me b/c they do use quite different techniques.

What everybody seems to have missed is burn speed. Some CD players simply do not like CD's that've been burnt at high speeds. That's generally where the problems arise. Not so many years ago both CD's & VCD's had to be burnt at single speed or else they were coasters (well at least they would play on comp but that's all.) ie: don't burn them at 52 speed, burn them at 4 or 8 speed or the lowest you can find. It'll last you so much longer also. Choose reliable cd media also.

Ahhhh...

Once again you hyper-techy stud-muffins have managed to ignore the basics FIRST.

Unless you have the time and the desire to make a test burn with CD-RW discs (RW = ReWritable), do not waste your time burning anything that you wish to play on a 'normal' CD player on anything but...

CD-R discs

----------------------------------

Yes, yes... I do know that some of the newer 'players' will cope with some CD-RWs... But it is rare for the great majority of installed hardware players out there...

The other point made re: 'Burn Speed' is very important... The slower the better if you do not want to become a world-class coaster collector !
