Avi File!! Not Playing

I DOWNLOADED A MOVIE WHICH IS AN AVI FORMAT BUT WHEN I TRIED TO PLAY IT IT SAYS THAT A MP43 DECOMPRESSOR NOT FOUND CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE. Many thanks
