Well if you guys wanna burn to DVD-5 [Standard] or DVD-9 [HD], private message me, and I'll hook you up with a really good system for burning DVD's.

But if it's discussed once more on the forum you're going to be in deep sh*t.

Hi if you want to copy a movie file to a DVD disc that will play in any DVD player
You need some conversion software because as far as I know most movies are DL in Mpeg format which DVD players wont play.
I use Convertx to dvd it converts avi, mpg, meg mp4 etc to a dvd file that will play on dvd players.
Secondly you need DVD-R or DVD+R discs the diff between -R and +R is like VHS and Betamax tapes. Check which format your player reads.
When choosing discs don't be tempted to go for the cheap ones I use Verbatim silver top DVD-R and have never heard of them not playing in any player. I got a cheap Tesco DVD player and it loves the discs.
I also burn all my discs at 4x as the output is a higher quality.
Hope this helps...

try burning the movie to a larger disc and make sure you are using the proper burner.

You will need to use a proper burner program, one that can convert & compress via quality settings. You didn't specify the avi size or/& length of the video. WMP is a very basic burner interface & abilities.
