![]() I continue to have connection problems, even though I followed both instructions to allow Windows and McAfee to allow LimeWire to connect. There are times I’ll get online, open LimeWire and connect right away. Other times I’ll get online and LimeWire won’t connect at all, and all I have found that works is if I close LimeWire and reopen it, repeating the steps until it connects. I don’t have that many downloads going at once, and I’ve downloaded the latest version of JavaWeb Start. Is there anything else you can suggest? |

![]() I generally recommend to allow LW to settle after opening before doing anything. Even go away & have a cup of coffee. I also don't recommend using the Resume/Find Sources button on many (if any) files, particularly if you have connection issues. Depending on how many shared & incomplete files you have, LW can take some time to load them all. It will also be trying to connect to each file one at a time. If you use the Resume button, this will put xtras stress on LW & can affect its connection quality. It will also result in files being queued for much longer. A couple of days ago (I didn't use LW yesterday) I opened LW & about 40 mins later I had a file downlding at 27 KB/s from several sources which is max for me. 15 mins later I had another from 2 sources. I hadn't even done a search or anything. I just opened LW & had it running in the background. Here's some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities. If necessary at least have a look at these if you think you need them: Fixes for Limewire |

![]() I was online yesterday, for hours, trying all the steps suggested in all the forums you mentioned. I don’t know my connection speed (and don’t know where I can find it). I have use America Online 9.0 but have Internet Explorer on my computer also. And read another forum http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5&pagenumber=1 about AOL 9.0, but that didn’t help at all either. Is there anything else you can suggest? Another question I have, when I am connected should I search and start the download for numerous songs. Allowing them to go to the ‘Incomplete section’, so that when I log in again, it might help Limewire connect. And do I need to be on AOL in order to start and run Limewire?
