.avi files and Windows Media Player I'm downloading something at the moment and whenever I try to preview it, Windows Media Player pops up and there's an error message saying, "ClassFactory cannot supply requested class" Anyone know how to fix this? |
I think I researched that error on the forum once before. I believe it's a codec issue. You need the correct one. Keep in mind there's many types of AVI. AVI is a wrapper, but inside there can be variations of types of video such as divx, etc. Here's search results: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...t=ClassFactory http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...t=ClassFactory http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...G=Search&meta= And here's some codecs: http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nimo_pack.html (choose Mirror2link only) OR http://www.click-now.net/html/K-LiteCodecPack.htm *** OR get yourself a backup player that's free & has built-in codecs that plays ALL the new video formats (Except the odd wmv file.):VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (choose nearest mirror site) |
That's brilliant, thanks very much! |
The answers are already up there but I thought I'd also give a direct link to the issue: http://msmvps.com/chrisl/articles/11215.aspx |
