putting download movie's to DVD what would be the best program to use to convert these files so that I can burn them to a DVD and be able to watch them on our DVD recorder. From what I have been reading, the advance x video converter looks to be fairly good but they also want you to buy it so I guess my next question is, is there any programs out there like that, that you can use that you do not have to buy. It anyone could help me out with this it would be GREAT. |
putting movie's on to DVD's Ok I am back and was wondering if windvd creator will convert the avi files so that I can burn them onto a DVD and play the movie on our DVD recorder.? |
Try http://www.videohelp.com/ & http://forum.dvd-guides.com/ You can also do a search at this site for free ones: HERE (click on link) The full versions of Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator, & Nero (latest version) will convert avi & mpeg to appropriate format for burning to cd or dvd. |
Thank you lord I just want to thank you for your help but as you know I am new at all this and I am trying to understand it all but i still have a few questions as stupid as they may sound. but 1] is how do i know what the nearest mirror is to download on the media player that you have talked about and 2] could you tell me the best format to use when taking a movie that I have downloaded to put onto a DVD. I download the following avi, mpeg and mpg. Will all these download or burn to a DVD so that we can watch them on our DVD player? Once again thank you so much for all the help that you have given me................................ |
1. When you click on download you will be sent to a page which has mirror sites in different countries. It really doesn't matter which one you choose. They're all the same. 2. All those formats are fine. Just make sure you have a decent burner program that can convert them such as the latest & full versions of Nero or Roxio easy creator, etc. |
try vso's divx to dvd - its awesome for free an absolutely fantastic and amazingly free prog. for converting most movie types including avi Divx to DVD is VSO's "Divx-to- DVD" available here: http://www.vso-software.fr/ |
Thanks guys I just wanted to say thanks for all your help and I do have a little better understanding with all that I have been reading and the sites that I have gone to, but I was on here once reading and ran across a forum where someone had asked about how to save on the drive space and now I cannot find it so I want to ask,,, everytime I download a song or movie is it taking up space on my hard drive and is there anything I can do to keep that from happening . I know you can save it all to a dvd or cd but i was just wondering how much space is it taking up on my drive., I realize that probably depends on how much I am downloading and the size............ so what can I do about it taking up a lot of hard drive space..............anything........... |
The average mp3 takes up between 4 to 6 MB. So divide that no. into 1,000 & that will give an idea about how many songs you can fit per GB of hard disk space (about 250 songs.) If you have space problems then why not get an xtra hard disk drive. They're much cheaper nowadays. Or even an external HDD. If you're worried about downlding taking up space then you obviously sound as though you don't share much either. If you downld a movie, well it will be about cd size so about 600 to 700 MB for reasonable quality. You should burn to cd & create a vcd & delete the movie after burning. Likewise for music. |
Thanks Lord You are right drives now days are not all that expense and nor are they that hard to install, You did answer the question that i think i was trying to ask and that is once i burn a movie to a dvd and delete it if it will free up space or if it will remain on there.. And if i am understanding you right it will free up space,The other is yes i have a file open for sharing but like a lot of other people I am still having a hard time getting full songs to download and getting a full movie.......... but i will get it all figured out and thanks once again for all your help |
Many... TOO MANY... of the conversion applications do NOT delete or clear the TEMP files that they must create during the conversion process... Be sure to look for those TEMP files and delete them manually if necessary... Of course, Do Not do this if you wish to make more than one copy of the same file/disc. |
