See The way to fix the Blank screen on startup & see if that's related. ;) |
Hi so i checked the link you gave me and its not related to my problem. I think there is definately a problem with my settings. |
what are you using as a browser? |
what's a browser? |
Like the program you're using now to access this forum site. eg: Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, Firefox, etc. |
OK so its internet explorer |
in internet explorer (I.E.) look on the top left of your screen, and you will see 'Tools'..click on that..on the first page that comes up (general) you will see at the bottom a button named fonts... mine are: Language script: Latin based Web page font: Times New Roman Plain text font: Courier New check and see what yours are...and perhaps if they are different, change to the above... for the colors button, I have my settings as 'use windows colors' for the accessibility button, I have no boxes checked... |
hi i've done exactly what you've said and i'm still having the same problem!! |
Becca Can you post a screen print so that we have some idea of what you are seeing? UK Bob |
hi thanks for all your help i tried hanging the text size but that didin't help how do i post a screen print? thanks all!! x |
ok this sounds crazy but as soon as i paste into paint it all looks normal!!! so there's no point posting a screen print because that's not what i see. x |
Hahaha sounds like monitor settings. Just as an experiment, try changing the monitor resolution & see if you have the same problem with the text. (I do recall there was an earlier LW version that had some bug with monitor sizes & settings. But that would be if you were using LW.) Although as I suggested earlier, it might also be graph card settings such as those for 3D or adjusted for playing games, etc. Also as Peerless suggested, you could check your browser settings again. Check the language type ... which language type is it set to? I think in explorer there's 2 locations you can set this for for different reasons. Perhaps I getting confused with Netscape. |
1 Attachment(s) Explorer only seems to have one set of options after all. Don't forget the text size option. |
ok i definately think its my monitor settings now i really need your help lord of the rings i have a french computer so i dont know how to change these settings or even how to find them!! please can you show me!! thanks xxx |
et voilà would be best to advise here. I'll send him a pm. |
I'll let this go on for a few more posts, and hopefully your problem will be resolved.. if not, I will link you to a tech support forum whose members specialize in things such as this..though perhaps not in French! |
pourquoi pas en français? |
Okay here is my reply now that I have access to a WinXPos with French. In Exploder, select the menu Affichage->Codage Là tu peux sélectionner l'encodage préféré, et je crois que le mieux est "Europe occidentale (ISO)" Ciao et bonne chance |

Hey voila. L'exploder... est cet explorateur moyen dans le frech? c'est si intéressant. |
Exploder is only the english way to qualify IE when you use a superior browser like Firefox, Safari, Opera.... :D Ciao |
hi guys sorry to be such a pest but i have all that already from lord of the rings!! it was help with how to change monitor settings that i need. thanks x x |
1 Attachment(s) Becca The only thing I know about Frech PCs is that they have an AZERTY, instead of a QWERTY (English), keyboard. However, your monitor settings should have a corresponding icon sitting in the Windows system tray, and you should be able to use this icon to action the monitor's software and change the settings. The screen print below shows my monitor settings at work, my home settings are similar. Hope this helps. UK Bob |
if by any chance you have a TFT monitor (you know, a thin totally flat screen) then you need to have the display resolution set @ 1280x1024, and you also need to check the specs on the screen refresh rate..by specs, the actual specs from the manufacturer of the monitor...for example, mine is a 60Hz...in my ati control panel I have the refresh rate options set so that the controls only display what my monitor can actually do, as opposed to allowing any refresh rate... |
Hi guys, well thanks for all your help!!! Keep up the good work, it's so appreciated. I still can't fix my problem and I've tried all your ideas. Thankyou all again xx |
Ask here NorbiesWorld (click on link) & see if he has any suggestions. |
volia, Ce moyen si la France ont l'explorateur de Ford, puis en France, il sera exploder de Ford? bien, il un nom drôle pour Ford  ;) |
DarkSorrow: well anybody outside the US thinks GM/Ford cars are hum... not very good quality. I don't think French people refer to Ford Explorer as "Exploder"... yet. becca__: maybe I don't get your problem, but please use Firefox instead of IE, the latest FireFox 1.5 RC3 is most amazing: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/ Ciao |
