Default Dumb newbie question

Sorry for asking a stupid question, but I'm new to this stuff. Can I download songs that are in wave format on LimeWire, or does it have to be mp3's ? If it's possible to download waves, how do I do so, as any song I look for shows me that it's an mp3. Again, my apologies for my ignorance.

Put .WAV at the end of the title when searching. Not so many people share wav files because they're 3 to 7 times larger. There's also some other lossless file formats being shared such as flac & ape & applelossless (m4a with bitrates larger than 320 kbps.) Try doing a search for just .wav & see what you get. If someone has similar songs then browse them to see if they have more. The majority of files ahred are mp3 & m4a. These can be converted to wav for burning or your burner program will do it for you in the process of burning.

BTW how is it you're asking a Limewire (LW) question in tips & tricks section? Questions specific to LW should be posted in the Limewire Forum sections which is where you entered the forum. However I guess your question passes because it also applies to other gnutella programs & the gnutella network as a whole.

Thanks LOTR, you've been very helpful, I'll see what I can find in .wav files when I search. I'll also check out to see if I can convert mp3's to .wav. using the various softwares that I have. I guess the same would apply for Kareoke files too ?

I have no idea why I'm in the Gnutella forums, as I thought I was asking in the LimeWire forum.....like I said before, not good at this stuff and I obviously screwed up somewhere. Thanks again for your patience and prompt answer.

If you don't have such a program, you can get a free audio editor which will import & export & convert both mp3 & wav & Ogg vorbis files: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/windows.php but the program & manual are separate downlds.

Thumbs up

Thanks once again LOTR, although I'm not sure what to do with the Audacity software as far as converting mp3's to .wav, but I'll read the help files and try to figure it out. Looks like a nice software though.
