McAffee sucks. Get a free alternative that is good such as Avast, AntiVir, ClamWin or AVG.

I can't disrecommend Norton and McAffee enough, use a free alternative ASAP!

The links below will take you to a couple of very good free AV programs highly rated by the experts. I have found AVG to be better than Avast but both are very good.

http://free.grisoft.com/*******.php

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

The virus I believe you got can hide in allot of places on your computer. Go to the link below and post a Hijack This log there Norbie will be able to tell you if you have gotten rid of it. Just follow the instructions on the web page.

http://www.norbiesworld.co.uk/Forums...ic/t=1295.html

The reason they called you stupid is because of your refusal to believe that LimeWire did not give you the virus. Yo got the virus from DL and opening files that contained a virus or you already had it. Like I said before literally millions of people use LimeWire and do not get a virus from it. Do you really think LimeWire would be the most popular P2P software out there if it was a virus and was causing problems with peoples computers.

You put way too much faith in your friend who doesn't know his head from a hole in the ground if he thought LimeWire was a virus or caused a virus. The link below will help educate you about viruses on the network I would suggest you read it.

In the future you should probably do a Little research before making post and then defending them. Your post is what made you look stupid. When I told you it wasn't LimeWire that caused the virus you probably should have done a little research on the Internet instead of blindly believing your friend. That also made you look stupid or gullible hopefully you have learned something from this if you have then you are not stupid. If you haven't then you are stupid.

Default I can disrecommend Norton

I used it for months, and it caused me nothing but trouble. It is the biggest resource hog on the market today (I think) + plus it didn't pick up everything it should

Has anyone tried Trendmicro PC-Cillin. I'm thinking about trying it, since Panda (allthough a good antivirusprogram) is almost as big a resource hog as Norton. But I would like to know what other people say about it first. I have tried looking on the net for feedback, and have also tried writing them about it asking very specific questions and getting non-specific answers back. Allthough support answered fairly fast which is a big + in my book

P.S. DKSK The reason I called you stupid was because every time your name was associated with a thread it was inconstructive. If you wise up and post a bit nicer + more relevant + specific you will get a lot of help here, while if you continue like you have done so far you will only have more people calling you stupid

P.P.S. Antivirus doesn't have to be expensive to be good. And expensive most definently doesn't mean good

Sleepless... honestly... all the big-name Anti-Virus software suck. Get AVG (VERY light weight and is the top recommendation on every guru's list of PC apps to have.) or AVAST... I havent tested this one out, but it seems pretty credible.

Oh, and both are free.............which i should note that 95% of the best software out there are either free or open source. I have honestly never, in the past 4 years, had to spend a dime on commercial software. (Xcept for biz software that I am required to have for my job.) I can always get the equivalent or better open source or free version.

You mean heuristic analysis? In AVG it does. I dont know about AVAST, but I image it does too. You can also disable heurstic analysis if you wish... just check it out, im not here to sell it to you.

oops. you have to consider that it's 2.40 am here, so some spelling errors may occur.

When I had it disabled and did a online scan it picked a lot of stuff up that Panda didn't

After I enabled it every scan has been clean

So it's a must for me. If I remember correctly PC-Cillin has it too and is very cheap

edit : I stand corrected

One thing I do like about avast it will run in tandem with allot of other antiviruses right now I am testing Windows one care and running Avast in tandem with it. And yes it does have heuristic analysis. But I still prefer AVG while they both have never failed to pick up any viruses I have tested them with AVG has been able to repair more of the files than Avast.
