Go to Norbie's site at the link below he will help you. Follow the instructions on the page and install Hijack this. Copy and post the log to the topic page you open don't do anything until Norbie tells you what to do.

Then use command promth or DOS or whatever your system has, because it does have some kind of promth.

On my computer (XP) I hold down (F8) and I get a list of choices. If I choose (Start up only using command-promth) windows will not start at all, so there will be no way that anything would be blocking you from deleting the file, because the makers of the viruses may be smart, but they won't suspect anyone going back to basics, unless it's a really really old virus

Be very careful when using it, because deleting the wrong file usually is a bad thing

In the threadlink I posted before there is a link to how the promth is used + some other instuctions. read both carefully if you haven't tried it before

Also when cleaning spyware and viruses it often isn't enough to just use antivirus or antispyware. After deleting malware it is often good to use a registrycleaner as well. There is a link to a free one in that same thread

don't reboot before using it. Instead use it right after doing your malware sweep

That's exactly why I popped in - I have lost my broadband DSL (Com port 80 is the problem-apparently) I also downloaded a track from LW too - no fuss, in & out with my spoils - (Heaven & Hell - Lizzy - WOW) Sygate PF has disappeared & won't restore from progs either. I ran VGA,Spybot & Win Defender on XP pro. No DOD all Easter (I'm Dreaming of a White Easter).
I am very not young, not pc savvy, but well stuffed.
I attempted XP repair but got scared when confronted with BOOTFIX

I am being forced back into the real world, but have forgot my lines.......help pleeeeeeeeez

Question Daughter's Limewire usage...infectious.

2 out of 3 of our computers are now infected with some sort of nasty virus. The computers are inoperable even in safe mode. I cannot clean the computer without your help, what can I use to remove whatever was installed?
What would you use?
I've gotten a new keyboard for one computer to test if that would have been the problem. I've removed the jumpers as well to test.
One computer is a laptop the other desktop.

I can be 99% sure that it was a Limewire file that infected the computer, since the teen uses the site daily to download songs. My computer, that nobody is allowed to breathe on is completely in tact. Neopets is the only other website used frequently and downloads aren't part of the usage there.

I'm thinking that I'll need a disk, since the computer won't respond to any user driven commands.

Thanks in advance...
