This is why I recommend Cole2k standard for CODECS.

It's clean and it works.

Hmmm, again !

If your Windows install is crashing on you, then it may actually be a problem related to IRQ settings in BIOS.

It would be rare for CODECs alone to cause a crash, but the IRQ conflict problems can frequently cause crashes.

Problem here is to not give you all kinds of techy stuff to worry about...

When you first start your computer, do you see anything on the boot screen about RAID... anything at all ?

Another thought, perhaps for some of the others to consider for now...
Assuming (HOPING) that your hard disc is formatted as NTFS... There is about a 99.99999999999999999% probability that something called your MFT (Master File Table) is not configured to be of sufficient capacity. This results in enormous quantities of fragmented files/alloctaions.
This is something that is NOT your fault, OK ?
It's Microshaft. (Amusing that, after a minimum of five years of promos and lies they STILL haven't resolved this problem with Darth Vista !)

Don't give up !
Something is going to work and hopefully with no or little money spent !
