![]() As they say, "There ain't nuthin' like a convert !" ![]() Now, back to biz... What about AutoGK ? Hey, all I want to do is make perfect rips of movies that are standard max of 120 minutes and have it fit on a 700 or 800MB CD ! AC3-2ch too ! No big deal, hmmm ? Except, that it is...!!! |

![]() Even AutoGK will not give you a perfect 1CD movie that are 120 minutes long. There is a reason why any good scene group will go towards a 2CD rip way before 120 minutes. AutoGK is your best bet though if used, but I am telling you that you will max get aXXo quality. You will get better quality using x264, but if you want to play them on a standalone DVD player then that isn't possible. Why the obsession with 1CD? |

![]() I presume A264 is another name for H264 right? Or a variation on it. I googled it and got H.264 listed for first 2 results. H.264/MPEG-4 AVC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia h264 video fastest mepg 4 encoder high-definition DVD I did see this comment on a forum: "after googling is that x264 is an encoder/encoding library while h264 is a codec" "X264 is an offshoot of h.264 (which PS3 does support). What you need to do is to lookup MKV2VOB and you will be happy. This converts the x264 encoded mkv files to H.264 VOB files (retaining 5.1 and HD resolutions). While you are at it, download TVersity and stream these to them to the PS3." "x264 works just fine. The PS3 is not all that picky with any h264 encoded files. However, the PS3 is irrationally picky with AVC levels -- make sure when you encode with x264 that you use 3.0 (i think), 3.1 (for sure), 4.0, or 4.1. (the mencoder option is "idc_level"" "X264 is an open source h.264 AVC encoder. Just like divx and xvid are h.263 encoders. And it's also considered one of the best out there in a recent comparison for quality and compression." Last edited by Lord of the Rings; May 3rd, 2008 at 11:07 AM. |

![]() To be honest I don't know really if they are exactly the same, but it is the new trend and even scene groups have started using it more and more, especially for HD encodes (HDTV, BlueRay, HDDVD). I have seen a file x264 with to audiotracks and multiple subtitle files inside the same ... mkv? container I think. The quality is much better than XviD not only sizewise but also XviD seems to have slight problems with really dark scenes, x264 does not. But for XviD to be as good as they can get you need several apps. I have seen guides (That I am not allowed to copy) that have many apps and scripts listed. And these things mentioned aren't easy to get hold of anyway. But the GordianKnot ripping pack would be first thing to get. Includes AutoGK, AVISynth and some other stuff. |
