Default 1 to 4 port usb hubs

Hello

I've noticed on other q&a sites that many people buy a 1 to 4 port hub (in goof faith) assuming it will run connected devices concurrently. However, sadly this is not the case. I have also a powered hub, yet still it does not connect as much as even 1 device - yes, suffice to say it may be faulty

OK, so... how does one switch from one device to another with the ordinary non-powered hub?

Regards,
Frederick

"...it may be faulty".

I concur. If it will not connect even one device, then it is obviously in need of replacement. I use a powered 2-port hub along with an unpowered 4-port hub without any problems (on a 350W machine - 4 on-board ports connect printer, keybd, and the 2 hubs).

I have read about configurations where the front USB ports were unpowered while the back ports were powered. I don't know how common was that crazy design.
