These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

Umm yeah its a great idea and something thats already been tested and implemented before. This is not top secret or anything since a lot of user feedback requests it, I agree with you it would be nicer for navigation. We see together if future versions add the browser functions thanks |

Alt-arrow Thanks for the reply. I forgot about the Alt Arrow keys you could use to direct your navigation. This is not a bad way to navigate and I do like the philosophy of XOLOX to keep things simple.! Some people say they want more features, (I love messing with things and have taught myself everything I know about computers and software, built many computers while learning cold fusion and so forth) but I like the fact that XOLOX runs good without one having to tinker with it and causing a situation were others are not able to download from them! I don't mean to start a rant here. Vinnie seems to have something out for XOLOX? I used Bearshare for a long time, started using it not to long after it first came out. In my opinion it was the best thing to happen to Gnutella at that time, I was able to get large files within a good timeframe. Then it started using spyware, or I became aware of it. This did not bother me too much because I just ran adaware and I was happy when we were finally able to opt out of it! The real problem I have with Bearshare is that many people configure it so others are not able to download from them. So you can find a lot with the search, but what good is it when over half the material you cannot connect to!! So I came across XOLOX that provided more features! What I mean is that the features they did provide allowed me to download one file from many and be able to pick up were I left of after rebooting my computer. At the same time many others started using XOLOX and I was able to get the files I wanted because those on XOLOX did not block people from their files!! So I would rather have a program that did what it was meant to do well, than a program that offered more features (couf, couf) without the reward. I am reminded of a friend that is always messing with their OS, hardware, and programs only to screw things up and most often blame a virus! What happens next is a call with a complaint about the OS, hardware, and most of the times a virus. It never occurs to them they have caused their own problems. So I have to listen to their ignorance, which is very amusing because they wont follow clear advise, and at the same time they are leaching off me (others) causing a wave of misleading information leading to a jam of communication. I just want to get the files I need (want). So, what I need is a gnutella client that provides the most features that allow me to get what I need in the best timeframe and not a client that offered features that make me feel powerful, but allows all to share their files in a timely and smooth manner. A client that can do this is what I call feature packed! Know of one (couf, couf)! |

dc direct connect doesnt have anything to do w/ gnutella , but its a good peer to peer file sharing network nontheless. In order to get what you want, you need to share files and a lot of them to get into any of the good hubs which automatically takes care of file availability dilemas. In addition, in order to join some of the real good hubs, you have to be voted in , and share atleast say 15 gigs or more. You can resume partial files, chat, and start your own hub which is one of the neatest features of direct connect. Also, you have the ability to save files directly to a zip drive. |

He speaks very highly of it in another post , he may have just got confused? *shrug* Quote:

not confused, just tryin to help i do love xolox ! but when some1 asks if there are any other good peer to peer networks out there.... why not give them some possibly helpfull information?? in comparisin, xolox is better than direct connect for a few reasons: 1. direct connect likes to crash 2. direct connect lacks the sheer volume of users xolox already has im not trying to advertise dc or anything, gamer, just trying to assist others in their trials and trivulations thank you Last edited by cHEssHire; June 7th, 2002 at 05:47 AM. |

This is different from what I believe you are imagining when you connect to a so-called HOST or 3 or 3 or more. We are all hosts, there are no servers, we are ALL servers and this is one of the biggest reasons why Gnutella Network should be able to survive. Will surv¡ve!

Hi cHEssHire I realize that it is a program..... I was only trying to avoid confusion for others who could read the post and be easily confused by it. If you read your opening sentence from just a slightly different 'angle', you will see what I mean. Sorry if you took any offense. Certainly none was intended.
