I have ran it with every set up except firewalls and I have not experianced any problems with XoloX and WinXP. I would suggest that you check security settings and such. They might be set too high. If that is not the case then check you modem and connection. If you are using a router then this could be the problem. Routers tend to block p2p filesharing sometimes. If all of this checks out then I have no clue what to tell you other than I must have gotten a special version of 1.20. Ironman |

I have a similiar system to the one described by Iron Man and it works fine for me. I've bee using XoloX for 2 weeks and have 1.2 version etc. but for me I noticed the reson why downloads may be slow is because of time zone, I'm 8 hours ahead of GMT and have noticed that I get more downloads when I log on at certain times such that I catch more users who may be online at night. I think as the Xolox user base continues to grow this will cease to be a problem. I have also noticed the mp3's I'm trying to download usually are low hits because the music I'm looking for is less mainstream so I usually must wait longer until I that user comes online before I get it. I also find that setting my upload speed to the max is better because it allow people to dowload the music from me quicker thus allowing the file to be used and passed on by more members. Just thought I would share my humble experience and thoughts so far with other users thus far. -davegrave |

This program stinks.. I had such high hopes... the reviews were great, no spyware etc, and gnutella-based too; it all sounded so good, and yes it was... too good to be true! I haven't been able to d/load anything of any merit for the last 3-4 days. Very disappointing! So I'm going to switch to Groxter or KaZaA-Lite... anything has got to be better than this slow death of an excuse for a file-sharing program. |

File Corruption I have been using xolox for a few days and have been able to find most of what I want. Sometimes it crashes but I haven't lost partial downloads. The problem I am having is that video files have started playing black screen with audio in Windows Media Player. At first I thought these files were bad. Some of these files will open in different players, but the same thing has occurred with other files that were fine previous to using xolox, which makes me think something has corrupted somewhere. Does anyone have an idea on how to be able to play these files correctly? I have reinstalled WIndows Media Player and the latest divx codec. Thanks for any help. |
