Thumbs down Constant Sharing even after disabling it

No matter what I do XoloX wants to share (still Upload) programs
from the directory I save my downloaded (files I receive) files even after I disable file sharing. Is that a bug or what? I'd like to share but everytime I do it freezes my computer up.(even my 800Mhz Computer 300+RAM) I go to the files sharing area of the program and nothing is there but I can see XoloX uploading and I can see zonealarms meters moving showing I'm uploading. Is there a way to disable file sharing completely?

No. Xolox will AT LEAST always share your download area automatically. Which is a good thing because freeloaders are the people who kill gnutella.

LOL, but the thing is that when your'e downloading a file other pricks start sucking on it even though you haven't even finished 1 percent of it. That's crap. xolox should only share that stuff when it's finished. Second it offers you the option to deselect some stuff like zip files from the sharing directory. So this should work, but it doesn't. What's the sense in providing such an option then, that doesn't work anyway? Maybe i dont want to pirate software by sharing it but xolox still does it. Maybe I just want to share my mp3 files. Well, enough seid, bye

Actually that's quite a good thing because that way the whole process is sped up. If you download, for example, the new star trek episode from a servant and all of his other download slots are filled it is quite good for other people to be able to get the same thing from you just as you download it... that's just taking the thought of sharing one step further, and gnutella is ALL about sharing!

Then don't share directories in which you keep stuff you don't want to share. I don't know about you, but I have a very clear structure of folders on my disk. I have inbound, I have outbound, I have everything else. Outbound is parted in various subfolders like MP3, Movies, Series which then are also parted in even more subfolders (By Album, By movie Title, by Series Title)... not only does that help me keep a clear view of what I have and what I want (minimizes double downloading totally) but it also help other people searching and thus sharing. And what is gnutella all about? RIGHT you are - it's all about sharing.

FREELOADER MOOCH don't download if you don't share. P.S. zone alarm and xolox will not work simultaniously without problems

Talking FREELOADER MOOCH?

I usually do like to share but when I do it locks up my computer and if you would read (which someone unregistered can't) I tried that. I have a fast computer and a fast internet connection (no not 56k) and still the sh*t locks up. So before you post...READ..And in the defense for people who don't share. Fu*k guys like this, you can do what you want, and where I come from Freedom to do so is an option. And in defense for people who do share...Good for you that is your choice...(And I do share I just can't on this program..It is what you call a BUG.) So Someone unregistered. You can go F*ck yourself.

If all this is good for speeding things up. Then Why do these
large files of Winxp or any other program files reach 100%
and get reset back 40-60%???

I was shocked when Office XP prof finished and that was two
files at the same time 480 m each in 5 hours

I miss Napster I was downloading whole CD's in 10-15 min.

The resetting happens, because Xolox finishes download a part of the file and then finds out that it does not match up with the other parts you already have. Agreed, that could be handled more intelligently (checking earlier, before the part is downloaded completely), but would you prefer a corrupted file that would be no use at all to you?

For the napster thing: well - you will NEVER get the same results with a p2p network as with a sever based network. Thats just a fact of life, I'm sorry. On the other hand - it is rather unlikely that gnutella will ever go down in hellish flames like napster has.
