I like it...

Great program...beats limeware, morpheus etc... the price is great
, strange how ppl bitch over something that works and is free, criticism is constructive, bitching is silly

Me too

With my cable modem connection, more success than with any other client by far, particularly with v large files. Does anyone know what 'safe download mode' is?

A very reliable (but no perfect) and intelligent Gnutella based program. I do wish it had more features such as mp3/avi bit rate searching/reporting and some kind if chat. But you still can't beat it for simplcity.

This is A GREAT!!

LOL a great price!!

The best file sharing program ive used were scour and napster. I think this is one of the best grentulla programs ever. I consider a good file sharing program is one that actualy downloads. I download 1 in 8 files I want with lime wire. Morphus is great with features but i like the reliablity of xolox and its multiple server DL. This Program is Overly simple; but that can be a good thing. Works great with a T3 line.

Thank you developers!

I also think that this program is great. But I don't really want anything added to it, but the problems that occur fixed. I have to wonder if more features were added if xolox would slow down, or use more resources.

Anyway, keep up the good work :)

Xolox is a good program.
There is only one thing, it's using a lot of CPU.
Most of the time 99% and that is a lot.

sometimes it let's my computer stop.

I have a 1Mhz AMD and 384 MB Sdram.
Running Windows 2000 Pro

it's ok to download with, but...

I can't get it to upload correctly. People never seem to be able to complete a download from me. I know this cause the file they are downloading from me never stays displayed in the uploads windows long enough for them to get the file from me. I still like WinMX and LimeWire over this one for sharing my files. I only use XoloX to download really big files like movies and operating system ISO's.

maybe the network has found a faster source for that person to download from and that is the reason why you dont upload, do you run a firewall, this could be it too.

Unregistered November 8th, 2001 12:52 PM

might be that, but...

WinMX has no trouble. When I leave it on overnight and look at the uploads window the next day, over 100 files have been downloaded off me with no problem. I do have a software firewall, but I let xolox go thru it (out) on all ports, and let people connect thru it (in) on port 6346 only. Also, I don't think the transfer stops cause it's slow and they are getting the file off a faster server as most of my files are only available from me. I know this cause I put -[Please Share!]- in front of all my files, and doing a search for -[Please Share!]- doesn't show any of my files unless I'm running xolox on one of my computers and do the search from the other one downstairs. I myself can download off my computer upstairs with no problems. If it is slow, WinMX users must be more willing to wait for the file, and xolox users don't want it bad enough to wait. But I don't think my connection is slow. I use a 256/128 cable connection. If this is too slow for xolox users, screw them. I'm not going to pay more than 20 bucks a month just to get a faster connection for them to enjoy cause it's already fast enough for me!

usage rating

Haven't seen it operate during simultaneous download/upload yet, but, from what I've seen so far, gotta give it a "thumbs up"!

XoloX uses less than Limewire

There must be something wrong with that, since I have PentiumIII600Mhz, with only 64Mb of RAM, and XoloX isn't really slowing down my computer significantly, though I can't say how many percentages it uses. I do can say from experience, that Limewire uses much more of my resources. It could be it's your windows2000, cause I have win98SE.
If you can't find any solution to your problem, you could find Gnucleus to be pretty fast - it's way faster than any other gnutella-ptop, but it's not perfect either.

Go Figure

funny...many complaints about CPU Usage.
I'm running an Athlon 750 Overclocked to 1 Gig
WinXP Pro
256 Megs of ram
Xolox only uses 30% CPU.
Even if I run EDonkey with Xolox I can still browse the web and do other tasks without any slowdown or lockups.
No, I'm not running any RAM Optimizer or RAM Drives so maybe I'm lucky, maybe you people with CPU problems don't have your system optimized correctly or you have a POS from that computer manufacturer that uses the cow spots on their box.
Anyway, Xolox is the thing to use for mp3s now that AudioGalaxy is filter happy.

Aeroe November 24th, 2001 01:51 PM

with xolox, 3 ie browser windows, winamp w/ visuals, mirc, meaya popupfilter, my control panel running it uses about 9% of my cpu with a 900 k7/512mb sdram. oh it's crucial pc133, not generic :)

it doesn't lag me at all, but for such a simple program i'd expect it to use 1/3 the ram instead of nearly 17mb.

Unregistered November 25th, 2001 02:42 PM

I am running an Athlon 1.2 with 256 sdram 133, and I have no probs with resources.
I happily run XoLoX, E-Donkey, stream video and browse quiet happily.
I even had all that and played on Unreal for half an hour with no noticeable diff.
All I can say is. PC's r weird S*** LOL

Great program, no complaints whatsoever. No one seems to download from me but that might just be my wierd taste in music!
