i've installed edonkey a few months ago after i've heard it's good for downloading movies - but it had a pretty ugly user interface. so i removed it immediately. maybe it deserves a second try ... does it support multiple source download like xolox ?
btw, which other gnutella clients download one file from multiple sources ?

Default gnotella is another

It also does multiple source downloading. Winmx 3.0 does this as well, but it won't be out till the end of the month. I think kazaa also does this, but I hated it and didn't use it for more than a few minutes.

Unhappy RE: How Much You've Had

I've tried 2 different versions of XoloX and have yet to receive the kind of quick search and d/l that I get from other programs. It may be useful to some but it just isn't happening for me.

I did want to address this fool's comments toward the developers more than anything else.
First of all, if you know very little english you should choose words wisely to express what you're trying to convey. Otherwise we may be forced to think of you as yet another foreign pain in &%#@ who has the nerve to be condescending to developers who offer there software free of charge. Understand this: they owe you NOTHING! The assistance they do lend you stems from their kindness or other altruistic qualities. Schmucky Idiot!!

Angry RE: RE: How Much You've Had

reply to the dumb part of your posting:

i'm really so sorry that my english isn't as good as yours ... would you pleeeaaase give me lessons, wouldn't you ???

wanna know why my english is rather bad ?

BECAUSE IT'S NOT MY NATIVE LANGUAGE !
BECAUSE I HAD IT 6 YEARS AT SCHOOL AND IT WASN'T MY FAVOURITE SUBJECT !
BECAUSE I'M NOT AN ARROGANT ******* FROM SAN DIEGO !

understood anything ? hä ? when you read the next posting which doesn't meet your high requirements in respect to grammar and orthography - THEN SIMPLY IGNORE IT AND DON'T ATTACK PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW ! EVEN LESS BECAUSE OF GRAMMATICAL PROBLEMS !

----------------

now to the serious part of your posting:

i agree with you that xolox's developers are nice people who wrote one of the best gnutella clients and give it for free. they are neither under the obligation to release bug-fixed versions nor to play chess with pink elephants or wear red ties and women's underwear ...

nethertheless i posted because i wanted to get them to reply some information about a bug-fixed version ... but the main purpose was of course to express my anger after i noticed the dropped-segments-bug. which in my opinion is a very serious bug ...

anyway, i want to apologize by the developers in case my very first posting seemed condescending. it wasn't my intention.

peace - christian

Well done, let's remember those "anglophones" that they are just lucky if they can use their language worldwide, and that this privilege is not God-given!

as i wrote in a previous posting xolox joined all temporary xlx-files by itself to one big xlx-file. i simply stopped xolox before it could drop a segment.
if you want to join these files by yourself than you have to type the following command at the command prompt: "copy XXX.xlx /b + YYY.xlx /b + ZZZ.xlx /b + ...". whereas XXX, YYY, ZZZ, ... stand for the temporary xlx-filenames.
anyway, i don't advise you to do it manually because Sorcy wrote in a previous posting that the segments are slightly bigger than necessary. so you have additional data between the real video data. maybe it fairly works with mpeg files but with avi files you will get trouble. the only possibility is virtual dub: load your joined avi with extended option "re-derive keyframe flags" and save it to another file.
you could also try to force xolox to not drop segments by unchecking "drop and retry incorrect downloaded parts".

Thumbs up xolox sucks

Hi,

I completely agree with each and every point in chistians postings. Xolox has a serious bug or deficiency. I have had xolox running now for two weeks, and still havn't got any (zip, nothing, blank, nada) video files out of it so far. Every time a large file (>500Mb) is about to be done (99%), it drops down to 20-50%, and my impatience gets worse and worse.

I have got plenty of smaller files.

I know there are other clients, some even can tell if all segments are available in a graphical barchart. I think I will get one of these. Xolox has just stolen my time, and given me no pleasure. Xolox programmers - go home, do something else.

Sorry, i just go nuts, when 99% suddenly becomes something less than 50% again and again.

/Thanks.
