Default xolox still works

Just use a firewall like Tiny Personal Firewall at www.tinysoftware.com to block xolox port 80. Allow all other outgoing ports, and allow only incomming port 6346. Works like a charm. Just started downloading a Star Trek Enterprise episode and it's sailin along at 30k.

If someone out there is a great cracker, reverse engineer this program and put out a hacked version so people don't have to trick it like this.

Aeroe is flying high
Thumbs down

ya know if xolox intentionally decides to be a bunch of ***** by "disabling" the client they do a disservice to other clients by telling the riaa they can supposely block users from using gnutella clients.

so basically the riaa knows the programmers can "block" out users and will request that..

thank you xolox!

Default hacked version

If you're not the trusting type and don't want to install the hacked 1.13 version or patch 1.12 with a crack. Just follow the instructions in the first post of this thread.

Default

alternatively, if you don't want to install the firewall, all you have to do is put the following line of text (use notepad) at the bottom of your hosts file (c:\windows\hosts, or c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts):

127.0.0.1 www.xolox.nl
127.0.0.1 xolox.nl

you can probably use a bogus IP address too, but that works for me.

Default I kept mine

I keep all my download zips because I'm obsessive like that. I have everything I ever downloaded as I downloaded it in a special folder which I occasionally burn on a couple of disks for safe-keeping, with my falling apart, 299 mhz piece o crapola and it's crash-happy habits I must be prepared to reinstall every so often. I share this file and so do others too I am sure. You possibly could find it by using something else like bearshare to find it in p2p. Not sure what else... There are links included hither and thither in the forums for a patch for those it expired on and then a hacked version designed to defeat that but that is only the exe by itself.
