Lightbulb A fatal flaw...

Somewhere in the the dark recesses of my dementia:

"Hey! That guy is using XoloX to download that big file from me. If I cancel him before its finished, he'll HAVE to share it with many many more people that I won't have to upload to. Thanks XoloX!"

Default Why cancel

From what I understood, he'd start sharing it the second he gets a byte from you - so why cancel?

Because if he downloads it, he can remove it from his shared folder. He can't do that if he hasn't finished downloading it himself.

As you know, XoloX shares incomplete files with other users seeking the same file. So if a user doesn't download it completely, he HAS to share it with others :-)

Thumbs down Yuck...

So now we have 500 people all with the same file and only 99% of it and a whole bunch uploading from them, sooner or later the whole network is flooded with people with this 99% file and only one guy somewhere to get that other 1% It would make more sense just to share your files honestly so that there are alot of other 100%'ers out there to spread the complete file around. I share 4,000 files including 500+ mp3s some vidis and alot of other very nice things but I have this enormous 99% half-gig thing sitting in the incomplete folder for days now and all these poor guys I see uploading it from me. Im tempted to just dump it so that others don't wind up with the 99 'cent item too.

Lightbulb Of course...

Obviously, I can't cancel them all, or it would be pointless. As long as I'm the guy with that last 1%, people will eventually get the file. All I'm doing is taking advantage of XoloX users for help in uploading to other XoloX users. It's been my experience that 90+% of people don't share the files they download from me. Like Monster Truck Madness game, I must have uploaded it 30 times. I'm lucky if I see it at all during a search.

But you can't cancel uploads, without exiting?
