Default Free firewall, HIGHLY SUGGESTED!!!!!!

Here is a link to a free firewall that works very well. You never know if someone is putting a backdoor in a xolox "crack" or not. Anyway, its a good idea to have it runing.

Angry Please stop making mountains out of mole hills.

I don’t understand what the big deal is about firewalls and people running in fear of someone getting on their computer. Please, you people probably don’t have anything, a person skilled enough to put a backdoor in a program, would want anyways. I’m tired of everyone wining and complaining about spy-ware and backdoors, it’s just pathetic. Most of you (not all) don’t have anything important to waste time with trying to hack, make a backdoor, or Trojan attack you. If you have had any of this stuff done to you it was probably just blind luck.
Well what I’m trying to say is be careful, but stop flipping out, just because you get pinged a few times or you find a stray Trojan on you computer. They usually don’t mean much of anything, clean it up and move on.
As an example, let’s make a house out of lead so the sun’s radiation won’t burn us when a standard construction will do just fine.
I don’t mean to be impolite or supercritical but everywhere I go people are always complaining about getting a firewall or a program has spy-ware or backdoors or some such nonsense. I’m just blowing off some steam about these scared little children. Let’s not blow everything out of proportion and calm down.

zone alarm seems to work good and is easy to use.
the problem with windows and explorer and outlook and word is that viruses/trojans get in easy because people can't seem to stop using MS programs and MS doesn't care.
so firewalls are needed because if you have a trojan then someone can break in easy.
on windows you can't just stop running deamons or easily get a list of open ports or running deamons like you can on Linux.
windows sucks, just go get linux and be happy
on linux you just don't run any deamons you dont need and then no worry
I run both but mostly linux for important stuff, no crashes, no restart when you turn off/on a deamon, no get out your CD so we can see if you paid for the OS crap, its great, I talk from experience here.

Default True

It is true that most people don't need a firewall, but firewalls are pretty much the only way to actually see what is happening. I have never used zone alarm, but i am guessing that it isn't that great of a program. The only reason people use it is because it is so easy to setup. And just because you have a firewall installed doesnt mean you are safe. You will still get viruses, you will still get trojans, And maybe, just maybe the firewall will stop the trojans. The Tiny Personal Firewall is great i think, because it shows you all open connections, and a summary of your upload/download speed. It shows you what applications have open ports, and who they are connecting too. That way, you know what is happening, and helps put you in charge of you network connection. It still isn't going to fully protect you, but if you have a basic firewall and a good anti-virus software, you will atleast have peace of mind. I know what NightShift means though, because a lot of people are paranoid, and they all think that zonealarm is going to save them. IT WON'T.

All i'm saying is that Tiny is great to find stats on network connections. Xolox doesnt tell you ANYTHING about what it is doing, so if you want to know more, download Tiny, you might be surprised at what you can find out.
