Quiting Limewire

hello and I hope someone can help me. I have a new computer a MAC and I have been using limewire for a while, but yesterday I tried to quit limewire and put the comp. into sleep mode. Today I get onto the comp. and limewire still says "Please wait while limewire shuts down". I have tried shutting down the comp. but nothing works. Can any one suggest something else.

I don't know about MACs but when a PC freezes like this you have to manually switch it off, even if it means switching off from the electrical socket.

To ukbobboy01, thank you that did work with the MAC as well. I disconnected the internet, waited a few seconds and reconnected. Thank you again.
