Hey Guys,
I'm John, go by dreamof3d. I'm a newbie on a Mac Pro, here is what I play with:
I have a Mac Pro
Mac OS X Tiger(latest)\Ubundu 7.04 64 bit\ Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit
View sonic 22" HD flat panel, Dell 19" crt
6 gig ram
Internals..250 gig(mac) 250gig(win) 320 gig Mac Ext...160gig (archives)
Memorex dual layer 16X external cd\dvd
2- dual-cor intel xenons @2.66 ghz
ATI X1900 xt 512 meg graphics
M-audio key studio midi controller
All piped through 7.1 surround @ 100 watts\channel

Mostly do 3d rendering & animation....C4d,Maya,XSI etc.....
One day hope to drop the tool belt and hammer and render architectural drawings for $ instead of sweating

I mostly use Vista. Vista runs faster on this machine than on any other "Windows" machine I've seen. I ge a score of 5.4 out of 6.0 from Microsoft
and thats based on the lowest test score which happens to be hard drive speed. All other tests are like 5.8 or 5.9.

Saved for a long time to get a nice machine. I just got tired of machines like my Dell Dimension being obsolete after a month or two with no way to really get it up to speed. When I'm not doing 3d I like to do fine cabinetry work and lots of fishing.
Hope I can be of some use around here. Hopping to turn my hobby into a profitable job from home one day. I figure after giving up drinking, I'm still ahead money wise getting the Mac. Much healthier too..LOL
