download.com have for some time allowed scam versions of programs to be listed on their pages. I stopped trusting their site 2-3 years ago. They allow anybody to list programs & do their own reviews. Once upon a time download.com were the ones who did the reviews (unless I am mistaken). My browser gets hit with security issues everytime I go there also. A total loss of respect for their site. I hope as you say they do do something about their scam listings. I made complaint a few years ago, I don't believe anything was done. There are definitely scam sites in countries such as russia. But also in other countries including the usa. The ones in USA often move & change name after 6-12 months. They often also have several sites up under different names, but same owners. They take your money & run (when the authorities start to get close to them.) my softwareprovide.com is a rip-off scam I too let my guard down today and got scammed by what I thought was a legit site. I got there phone number for the site from my debit card online account. Any way I called them and I should get my money back less the $10 "service charge". The "customer service" lady told me they were located in Portugal which is another internet place for ripping off people like russia. Once posted I think I won't wait for them to credit my account but print out your experences, go to the bank with this info to get all my money back plus change my account number. Man what a scam. Lastly I'll complain to my state attorney office of consumer protection. Buyer beware..... |

Scammed As others I let my guard down. Have never been scammed before and knew straigh away when I noticed the additional charges on top of what I thought. I immediately called my credit card services company and had a fraud alert put on my card. I also have the 1-888 number referred to in an earlier post. Grrrrrrrrrr!! |

I hope more of us fill out form on the internet crimes web site, it might help getting them shut down. And if more of us called Goggle maybe they would stop accepting sponsored links from this bogus company. I noticed one of the sponsored links has been replaced with a new website selling same thing. If you go to the main home page this same company is selling all sorts of software links to FREE programs. Makes me sick. |

I just called Google again. He said he is aware of this bogus company pretending to be Google. I asked him why they would allow sponsored links from a fraudulent site. He says they are not, that if you know how to do it you can get links under sponsored shaded area... wtf you have got to be kidding me. Any way I got 9.95 back too, canceled the card and will not ever trust google searches again. Looks like yahoo has them too. |
